Abstract

Talking animals are well known in storytelling, a tradition that can be traced back to the very beginnings of literature in ancient times. This genre can be considered an eminent part of world literature. Arab poets discussed a lot in their poetry and conversations about animals and described their bodies, movements and habits comprehensively. The Arab’s view about animals is a pure depiction of their culture and their affection for them. They are very compassionate to discuss the animals metaphorically in their poetry. This study proposes to trace a particular process in the literary-historical development of the stories of animals in Arabic Poetry. The aim of this research is to draw wonderful artistic pictures in Arab poetry regarding animals and its evolution period. This research found many similes and metaphors in Arabic poetry by discussing stories of these animals. The method used for this research was descriptive, analytical and qualitative. This research found some finest examples of this regard.
